U15s Win Division 4 Plate Final
Our Under 15 hurling team closed out their season last Tuesday evening under lights in Fraher Field with a win over near neighbours Clashmore in the Division 4 Plate Final on a score of 3-06 to 2-06. Clashmore started well and had 1-02 scored by the 12th minute. A long strike from Charlie Power ended up in the net settling our boys down and leading into half time we added good points from Seán Flavin and Pádraig Foley to lead by 2 at the break on 1-04 to 1-2.
We started the second half brightly with John O’Brien scoring two good goals and Pádraig Foley adding another 2 points. Sean McSweeney scored a brilliant point from 60 meters to leave us up by 3-06 to 1-03 with 15 minutes to go. At this point, we were looking good but Clashmore have great spirit and they roared back into the game and scored 1-03 to close the score down to just a single goal with 5 minutes to play.
The opponents bombarded the Ardmore goal for those last minutes but our full back line, of Paudie Keane and Logan Griffin gave great protection to the excellent Daithí Power in the goal. Our half backs, Jack Gleeson, Jimmy Keevers and Conor Bree had the upper hand for most of the hour and really helped close out the final few minutes.
Aaron McNamara and Charlie Power have played brilliantly all year and held their own against a very strong Clashmore pair. Our forwards had racked up big scores all year and put in a huge effort again on Tuesday, Oisin Mansfield, Sean Flavin, Seamus Twomey belied their size to throw themselves into challenges and fought for every ball.
Eoghan Murphy, like Logan who started playing hurling in May this year, made a huge contribution in setting up John O’Brien for one of his goals. Sean McSweeney, Pádraig Foley and John O’Brien took their chances well as they have done all year.
One of the highlights of the evening was our high fielding - Paudie Keane and Jimmy Keevers gave an exhibition of catching and clearing. We are so grateful to James McSweeney, Thomas Hallahan and Cathal Foley from our under 12 team who played in some of the league games and without whom we couldn't have fielded a team on those occasions. After the game captain Jimmy Keevers accepted the trophy on behalf of the squad. We look forward to the lads kicking on with their school teams and we will be strengthened by the return of Eoin Keevers in 2025 from his injury.

John O’Brien and Conor Bree selected for Basketball Ireland Academy Programme!
More good news for two of our U15 boys this week, as John O’Brien and Conor Bree got the call up to the U15 Basketball Ireland Academy Programme. What an amazing opportunity this opens up to the boys - we wish them every success and heartiest of congratulations from all in Deuglán Naofa to them and their families.
Intermediate Football Championship
Deuglán Naofa contended the Western IFC semi-final last Friday evening, and in a close and low scoring game, opponents The Nire stole the win. Just a goal separated the side at half time, the score being 2-3 to 1-3 to the Nire – Ardmore never lead after the Nires second goal in the first half and were ultimately always in chase of the game. Ardmore fought to the end and had some good performances across the field most notably Jack Keane who held possession well and scored two well taken points.

GAA Juvenile Update
Our U8s were in action last Saturday in Fraher Field in the All-County football blitz. They played three good games against St. Mary’s, Stradbally and An Ghaeltacht, with plenty of game time for all that attended. Well done boys! Attention turns to U9s next weekend with a hurling blitz for this age group in Lismore on Saturday.
Best of luck to our U15s who play Clashmore this week in their divisional hurling final. While we were the winners when we played earlier in the championship, we expect this to be a close game where we will need strong performances across the lines to take the win.
Waterford U16 GAA Football Academy
Waterford U16 Football academy had a graduation night and family barbecue last Saturday night in St Saviours club to mark the end of their three year development squad involvement. Each player was presented with a certificate for their effort. Deuglán Naofa was represented by goalkeeper Mochara Fraher, defender John Moloney, kit man Ultan Moloney and coach Glynn Moloney. We hope our boys can keep up the progress made and maybe represent the club on the County minor football team next year. The group had a very successful year with victories over Tipperary, Carlow, Wexford and Kilkenny. We ran Dublin and Westmeath close in two challenges. We lost to Limerick in the series semi-final finishing in third place in the national competition. The future is bright for Waterford football!

Camogie Under 8 and 10
Our U8 and U10 teams took part in their last blitz of the year in the SETU Arena last Sunday. This monster blitz hosted teams from all over the county and was a great way to play against teams we hadn’t played previously. We played four very competitive matches against Mount Sion, Ferrybank, Clonea and Ballyduff Lower. This was our best performance of the year with every girl giving it their all and displaying all the skills they’ve learned this year. We now wind down the camogie season with only two more training sessions to enjoy before we finish up for the year. A big thank you to Trish, Aisling and Sabrina for all their hard work with the Under 8 team and also a special thanks to Sarah and Ciarán for all the work they’ve done with our Under 10 team.

Our U13 team have kept up their winning streak clocking up their third win in a row over a very strong Ferrybank side last Saturday. This has been our toughest challenge to date and really put our girls to the test even though this wasn’t reflected in the scoreline we fought very hard for this victory. Well done girls.

QUINNS FOODSTORE Closes its Doors for the Last Time!
The footfall in Quinns last Thursday was like Grafton Street as John and Ber were joined by their large community of friends from Ardmore and beyond when they closed their doors for the last time after 46 proud years behind the counter. From early morning, well wishers came and chatted about their memories over the years from inside the corner store. The local school children stopped by on their way home, they too eager to wish John and Ber all the best. Longstanding sponsors, supporters and friends to Deuglán Naofa, many of our club members joined John and Ber to celebrate their lifetime of service to our community. Sincere THANK YOU to John and Ber and all at QUINNS FOODSTORE from all your friends in Deuglán Naofa – enjoy every single day of your well-earned retirement!

Condolences
Deuglán Naofa extends deepest sympathy to Deirdre Barron and the extended Barron and Lenane families on the sad passing of Seán Barron. Seán, who was a gentleman of our community, was born and reared in Curragh, where with his wife Deirdre, he lived and worked in the vegetable farming community along with close family and friends. Seán was an avid sports fan, and while he played for Ardmore GAA, his first love was always soccer and he and his brother Declan played with Ardmore and Ballinroad AFC down through the years. Seán remained a great friend of our club, and always supported fundraising projects and the Deise Draw. Seán’s brother Declan, spent a lifetime coaching underage GAA, and was Chairperson of our club for many years and remains the driver of Ardmore soccer club.
Condolences are also extended to Michael and the extended Ryan family of Ballyquin on the passing of his sister May, and to Mary and all the O’Brien family of Grallagh on the recent sad loss of Noel O’Brien.

Intermediate Football
We made it two wins from two outings in the Intermediate Football Championship at the weekend when we defeated Dungarvan at Fraher Field on Friday evening. It was a tight first half with both sides on 2-3 at the whistle. Luke Veale made his impact known quickly after his second half introduction with a great goal, one of a trio of goals for Ardmore in this half with the others coming from Kenny Murphy and John O’Brien. Final score on the night was 5-07 to 2-08, a great win that secures advancement to the semi-finals for the lads.
Minor Football Championship
Our minors too returned to winning ways at the weekend, with a fine win against Clashmore in the championship second round. Missing seven possible starters due to injury or unavailability and having only fourteen players, Ardmore played excellent football to convincingly win on a scoreline of 3-12 to 2-07. After a great first half performance we were leading by a point at half time following a goal from Matthew Veale. In the second half two further goals from Cormac Mooney and Dominic Broderick secured the win. Scorers: Luke Hennessy 0-7, C.Mooney 1-2, M.Veale 1-2, D.Broderick 1-1. We play our next game this Sunday against St Mollerans in Ardmore. Come along and show your support.
Under 11s
Our Under 11s played their last hurling blitz of the season on Monday evening in Bohadoon playing two games, the opponents on this occasion St. Pats and An Ghaeltacht. There were some great performances across the lines and the improvements in fitness, confidence and skills among the players is fantastic to see.
Second Final Win in Eight Days for the U12s!
Still bouncing from their win in the football final against Stradbally, our U12s took to the field in Lemybrien last Saturday to take on Ballygunner C in the hurling league final. Our side played with confidence from the whistle and raised a green flag in the first minute of the game. As you would expect from any Ballygunner side, they turned on the style at phases throughout the game, but they found it difficult to advance past mid-field as our side were strong in defence and gave the opposition no space to score. With only 5 of the team on the age, great credit is due to the younger players on this side who have been super right throughout the championship. The final scoreline was 5-2 to 1-0 and after the match, the team along with their families and coaches returned to the clubhouse at Deuglán Naofa for a medal presentation and refreshments to celebrate their recent double. These players are blessed to have had Seamus Prendergast as their coach since they first caught a hurley, and a huge thank you to Seamus for all his time and also to his able assistant coaches, Aisling Prendergast, Paul Foley, Conor Beausang and Nicholas O’Connell. Many thanks also to Paul Foley for his generosity in sponsoring the medal presentation. These wins may result in this group playing in a higher division next year, but no better group than this to rise to the challenge!

Retirement Best Wishes
It is the end of era for Ardmore’s Main Street with the announcement in recent days that John & Bernadette Quinn are to retire from behind the counter! John and Ber have for decades been loyal supporters of our club and were generous sponsors of our teams over the years. They worked hard as custodians of the corner store, building friendships that will last long into retirement, and the entire community will cherish fond memories of Quinns Foodstore. We wish John and Ber the happiest and healthiest of retirements, as they embrace the next chapter enjoying time with family and friends!

Condolences
Deuglán Naofa would like to extend deepest condolences to the family and friends of Noel Looby who passed away after a long illness at the weekend. Noel and his family were steeped in Ardmore GAA, with his sister Kay being Club Secretary and their father Larry spending many years working with underage structures. Noel wore the Deuglán Naofa jersey many times as a juvenile and remained a true friend and supporter of the club throughout his adult life.

Intermediate Football
Our first outing in the Intermediate Football Championship took place last Saturday in Fraher Field and after a slow start we ground out a much-needed win against Sliabh gCua/St. Marys. Special mention must go to Sean Power whose introduction for the second half yielded a return of 2 goals and 1 point from play and was of huge significance in achieving the win. Scoreline on the day was Ardmore 3-8 to Sliabh gCua/St. Marys 1-7. Our next outing is scheduled for this Friday evening in Fraher Field when we will take on Dungarvan.
Minor Football Championship
Our minors too had their first game of the Minor Football Championship last weekend against Affane/Cappoquin/Tourin. In a tight game we just came up short on a scoreline of 1-9 to 2-9 and will be hoping to do better next Sunday when we take on Clashmore in our second game.
Juvenile Update
Our U8s and U9s had another busy week last week! The U8s took part in a home football blitz last Wednesday where we fielded two Ardmore teams and hosted three, one from An Ghaeltacht and two from Lismore. All the kids put in great performances and were a credit to our club. Saturday it was the turn of the U9s who played St. Olivers and St Pats in a hurling blitz. As ever, they put in a super effort and the improvements could be seen from when we played the same opposition earlier in the Summer.

Highlight of the week was our U12s! They played the best game they played all year to record a convincing victory against Stradbally in the football league final in Fraher Field on Saturday morning. Each player brought their A game and played their part in the victory. We opened the scoring with two fine goals in the first ten minutes and kept the lead throughout, winning on a scoreline of 5-5 to 1-2. This group will also compete in a hurling final this Saturday at 1pm in Lemybrien where they will take on Ballygunner C.

Our U8 and U10 teams travelled to Clonea last Saturday to take part in their last blitz of this year. They played three very competitive games against teams from Clonea, An Rinn and Butlerstown. Both our teams played very well and really enjoyed themselves. It was great to see them putting into practice everything they have learned this year.

Our U13 team got their league off to a flying start when they took on Dungarvan away last Thursday evening. With many of the team playing with renewed confidence off the back of their county final win under 12 the previous week and the experience of our older girls it made for a fantastic team performance overall. We proved convincing winners at the final whistle on a scoreline of 10.3 to 1 point.

Camogie Under 16
The U16s made up of St. Declan’s and An Rinn faced a very strong Abbeyside team in the County B Final last Saturday evening on a lovely sunny day in Colligan. The game got off to a blistering start with some fantastic points from Treasa Ní Chrotaigh and a brilliant goal from half forward Ava O’ Keeffe late in the first half. Our backs fought tirelessly to keep the Abbeyside attack at bay and done well to keep us within a point a half time. However Abbeyside took to the field in the second half with renewed energy and found another gear which our team could not match. Even though we managed to get another ball past their keeper thanks to Ailbhe Ní Chadhla and a point from Treasa Ní Chrotaigh we could not match the 2. 9 Abbeyside clocked up in the second half. The game ended at 4.13 to 2.7 at the final whistle. Well done to all the girls who have performed outstandingly all year, it may not have been your day but you have done yourselves and your club proud. Thanks also to Declan, Mike, James, Conor, Michelle and Lindsey for all your hard work with the girls this year.

Juvenile Update
Our U8s and U9s had a busy week last week, not just with a return to school but also on the pitch! The U8s were first into action with a blitz in Bohadoon last Wednesday. They did very well in their games against An Ghaeltacht and St. Pats, especially in view of the fact they hadn’t kicked a ball in weeks! Next up were the U9s on Saturday who played Clashmore and An Ghaeltacht in a hurling blitz in Clashmore. The boys put in a great performance in the early Autumn sun.

Camogie Under 12C Plate Final
Ardmore played host to the Under 12 C finals last Saturday and we couldn’t have gotten a better venue or weather to take on a very tough Tramore side on a gorgeous sunny day in our home grounds. Tramore started off the stronger side dominating the first half with the wind and putting our backline under serious pressure. However we dug deep in defence and done extremely well to hold them to minimal scores. A quick ball sent into Aebhín Flavin resulted in a brilliant finish and left nothing between the teams at half time. After what must have been a rousing half time talk from the coaches, the girls took to the field in the second half looking a lot more determined and driven. They fought tirelessly and every girl must be commended for their hard work and will to win at all costs. Our forwards saw a lot more action in the second half resulting in two fine goals, one from Rosie Roche and one from our hardworking midfielder Róisín Ní Dhroma. The game finished up 3 goals to 1.4 at the final whistle much to the delight of our supporters who turned out in force on the day.
A special mention must go to Meadhbh Dunne who received player of match for Ardmore and also was joint Captain on the day with Róisín Ní Dhroma. Also a special thanks to our team coaches Eoin, Michelle, Agnes and Tom for all their hardwork throughout the year with the girls. Team was as follows; Maeve Prendergast, Meadhbh Dunne, Caitlin Begley, Grace O’Neill, Laura Beausang, Katie Keane, Chloe Webster, Róisín Ní Dhroma, Eline Tobin, Saoirse Fraher, Rosie Roche, Hannah Grace Hally, Aebhín Flavin, Sadhbh Foley, Sadie Prendergast, Catelyn Sheehan, Aoife Levins.

Condolences
Deuglán Naofa would like to extend deepest condolences to the O’Reilly and Griffin families on the sad passing of Michael O’Reilly in recent days. Michael was a true legend of Ardmore village, his great wit and character for decades synonymous with the Main Street. Ní bheidh a leithead aris ann.
We extend our sympathies also to Aoife O’Dwyer and her family on the passing of her Dad, Eamonn Fitpatrick. The Cork hurling community would widely acknowledge Eamonn as one of the best Barrs hurlers ever and I’m sure he was very proud of Oisín and Cormac who most certainly have inherited his skills.

The U11s played a very competitive blitz this Monday just gone, playing Cois Bríd and Clonea in two very competitive games. The U12s played Clashmore last Friday evening and while our squad enjoyed some good patches of play, it was Clashmore that ran out winners on the evening. The U12s will be back in action this Friday when we play Brickeys at home at 6.30pm.
Deuglán Naofa U15s – Winners of the Midleton GAA Annual Bill O’Keeffe Hurling Tournament Shield
The highlight of the week was without doubt the success of our U15s in the Bill O’Keeffe hurling tournament in Midleton last Sunday. Their opening game was against Danesfort of Kilkenny who proved no match for our lads who won this game on a scoreline of 2-07 to 0-03. After a short break we played our second game which was against the hosts Midleton. Taking confidence from the first game, Deuglán Naofa were again the better team in this duel and won with relative ease as they did in their third game against Douglas to set themselves up for a tournament final against hosts Midleton. From the whistle in this game, the lads meant business and soared ahead with a half time lead of 1-06 to 0-00. The second half was no different with a flurry of scores putting an 18 point difference between the sides at full time. On the day we played some great hurling with outstanding scores from our forwards and excellent defensive performances also. The panel was as follows; Daithí Power, Logan Griffen, Paudie Keane, Sean Flavin, John Hickey, Dara Foley, Jimmy Keevers, Conor Bree, Aaron McNamara, Charlie Power, Thomas Hallahan, John O’Brien (captain), Oisin Mansfield, Cathal Foley, Séamus Twomey, Eoghan Murphy and Pádraig Foley. John O’Brien was an inspired captain on the day and accepted the shield on behalf of the team. This win will give a great boost to this young squad who have showed great potential this season.

We are very well represented on the county scene this year with five of our girls on the U14 County Development panels. Mary Kate Keevers, Sarah Murray and Raonaid from An Rinn who assists our U16 squad all had great success with the Waterford Stripes team winning the final of their division. Lizzie Prendergast and Maisie Roche along with selector Declan Prendergast who were part of the Waterford blue squad were very unlucky to lose out in their final by a goal late in injury time. It’s great to see our small club being well represented at county level.

Hard luck to our intermediate hurlers who came up against a very on form Ballyduff Upper side in the championship last Sunday evening. The lads battled hard but Ballyduff commanded the lead from the whistle, scoring 2-3 in the first 12 minutes with just one point on the board for Ardmore in the same period. The half-time scoreline saw the teams a little closer on 3-6 to 0-8. Ardmore needed goal chances that were hard to get against a very well set up Ballyduff defence. Our lads made good some lovely point scoring opportunities in the game, but ultimately came up short on final scoreline of Ardmore 0-13 to Ballyduff Uppers 3-19.
The club would like to once again thank Aidan Quirke at the Round Tower Hotel for his recent sponsorship of new jerseys for our adult teams.

Junior C Hurling Championship
Best of luck to our Junior C hurlers who take on Kilrossanty this Friday evening in Colligan @7pm in the Western Semi-Final. This team has put in some fine performances this year and will prove tough opponents in this game.
Minor Hurling Championship
Our minors took on Clashmore last Wednesday evening in Ardmore, in a very exciting championship game. The lead was shared right throughout the sixty minutes with the result going down to the wire, the Ardmore boys just shading it on a score of 4-14 to 5-9. This Wednesday evening they take on league toppers Stradbally who are unbeaten in this championship to date. The game is scheduled to take place in Stradbally at 7.30pm, come along and support the lads!
Juvenile Update
A number of blitzes and games were cancelled this week due to the weather, so a number of our juveniles had a break from play this week. However the U15s championship game went ahead and the lads put up a huge score to record a fine win against Kilrossanty, who had beaten us earlier this year in the Féile. This week, the U12s switch to hurling on Friday evening with a home game against Clashmore @6.30pm. In Under 10, Ardmore will host Lismore, Stradbally and Dungarvan this Saturday morning in a Déise Óg blitz. Best of luck to all our juvenile players in this week’s games!
Cake Sale and Raffle for Juvenile Club
Our annual August Bank Holiday weekend cake sale and raffle went ahead in less than favourable weather conditions last Sunday morning. Despite the conditions, business was brisk and over €3k was raised to support the juvenile club for the next 12 months. A very sincere thank you to all the businesses who support us annually. A massive thank you also to those that baked cakes, sold and purchased tickets and supported this event in anyway. Ní neart go cur le Chéile.
Camogie Under 12
Our U12 team took on Ballyduff Upper last Thursday in a very tough battle at home. They are a strong side at this age group with some very good individual players however our girls never gave up and fought to the final whistle. It was not to be our day but we are extremely proud of our girls for never giving up and battling to the very end.
Camogie Under 14
Last Saturday was a big day for our U14’s when they made the journey to Walsh Park to take on St. Annes in the U14 B county final. We knew going into the game that we had a very tough job on our hands as St. Annes have all always been a strong side who give it their all. However, our girls were extremely prepared for the fight and flew into the game from the start. They fought really well as a team which led to some superb scores up front. After a massive second half performance by the girls, we finished out the game victorious at the final whistle on a scoreline of 6.02 to 3.03. Well done to all the girls and their coaches and management on this fantastic win. Thank you also to all our supporters who cheered the girls on the day.

Minor Hurling Championship
Our next match in the minor championship is as home game against neighbours Clashmore this Wednesday evening at 7.30pm. Come along and support the lads.
Juvenile Update
The Under 10s played a competitive hurling blitz last Saturday in An Rinn, playing An Ghaeltacht, Clashmore and St. Olivers, with plenty game time for all that travelled. The U11s played a two-match blitz on Monday evening where they put in great performances against Ballinacourty and Tramore.
The U12s made a comeback in Stradbally last Friday evening to steal a great win in the football league against the home side. An evening to remember for Andrew Wesley who scored a hatrick! The U12s play their next game in the football league this Friday at home to Ballinacourty.
The U15s will look for their second win of the championship this week when they play Kilrossanty. Best of luck to all our juvenile teams this week!
Camogie Under 12
Our Under 12 team took on Cappoquin last week and despite their best efforts they were unfortunate to come away without the win.
Camogie Under 14
We would like to wish our Under 14 team the best of luck in their final this weekend when they take on St. Annes in the U14B county final.
Camogie Under 16
St. Declan’s/ An Rinn Under 16 team took on Mount Sion last Friday, we knew heading into this game that we wouldn’t have it easy as this team was topping us on the leaderboard. The girls however did not let this deter them and flew into the game from the very start. Thanks to an amazing team performance which saw every player fight for every ball and an exceptional individual performance from Treasa Ni Chrotaigh who scored 6.17 on the day, we finished out winners on the final whistle on a scoreline of 6.18 to 3.6. We have now secured our place in the U16B county final where we will take on Abbeyside on the 8th of September.

Intermediate Hurling
Deuglán Naofa played their third group game last weekend when they took on An Rinn in Dungarvan on Friday evening. Seamus Keating continued what seems to have become a bit of pattern of getting a pair of goals in each game and this time brother Ciarán added one for a Keating bros hatrick! Throughout the game, it was getting the ball over the bar rather than under that gave us difficulty. An Rinn held the lead from the 5th minute with Ardmore chasing the game from early on. The final score was Ardmore’ 3-10 to An Rinn’s 1-20. While this result denies us a semi-final spot, we remain very much in contention with a quarter final to prepare for.
Minor Hurling Championship
Our minors had a great win last Wednesday evening away to Portlaw. In a game where there were many outstanding performances across the lines, our boys accumulated a score of 2-20 against Portlaws 1-17. This is the second win in the championship for the lads having beaten Tramore in their opening game. They will now take on Roanmore in an away game this Wednesday evening at 7.30p.m.
Juvenile Update
Well done to our Under 7 girls and boys who took part in a blitz in the Brickeys on Wednesday evening with some great determination to be witnessed! The blitz tour continues this week for the group with a trip to Cappoquin this Wednesday evening. The U9s played a blitz in An Rinn on Saturday morning, playing two strong teams in An Ghaeltacht and Brickey Rangers.
The Under 10s will commence their hurling blitzes this Saturday in An Rinn, playing An Ghaeltacht, Clashmore and St. Olivers.
The U12s make a return to play this week with a football league game away to Stradbally on Friday evening at 6.30p.m.
While the U15s enjoyed their first win of the championship last week in a good game of hurling against Tramore.

Intermediate Hurling
Deuglán Naofa secured their first points of the championship with a convincing win over Colligan in Cappoquin last Saturday evening. Ardmore had the better of the exchanges from the whistle and were the better team throughout. As he did in the league final a few weeks ago, Seamus Keating goaled twice, accumulating a score of 2-4 in total in the game. Ardmore enjoyed an 11 point lead at half time, on a scoreline of 2-11 to 0-6. Ardmore defended their lead well in the second half despite an enhanced effort from Colligan who added 11 points to their tally in the second half with Ardmore adding just 7. The final scoreline of 2-18 to 0-17 could be important if points difference will be relied on at the business end of the championship. Next up for us in the championship is An Rinn this coming week with the match schedule to be played in Dungarvan at 7pm this Friday evening.
Minor Hurling Championship
Ardmore had a great win in our opening game of this championship beating Tramore 3-18 to 1-11. Our second game proved more challenging against a strong Naomh Bríd side who took their chances well and we were left with too much of a gap to bridge in the last quarter. This week we will look to get back to winning ways when we travel to Portlaw this Wednesday evening to take on the homeside.
Déise Draw
Congratulations to Fiona Levins who was Ardmore’s sole winner in the first of the 2024 Déise Draws last Friday. Fiona won one the €250 – not a bad return on investment!
Juvenile Update
The U7s played a football /hurling mini blitz against St. Olivers last Wednesday evening in Ardmore. This Wednesday the group will take part in a football blitz to be hosted by Brickeys.
The U15s played their second game of the hurling championship last Monday evening in Ardmore against Dungarvan. In an age group where we struggle with numbers our boys did very well for much of this game and will be hoping for their first win of the championship when they play Tramore this week.
Deuglán Naofa and St. Olivers U7s at the recent blitz hosted by Ardmore
Camogie U12
Our Under 12 team had a fantastic win over St. Mollerans last Thursday in our home grounds. Considering the majority of the team had attended Cúl Camps all week, they didn’t show any signs of fatigue and gave a mighty display of skill and determination to come away with a well earned victory. It’s back to the training pitch now to prepare for their next game. Well done girls.
Camogie Under 14
Our Under 14 team played Ballyduff Lower last Sunday in the Under 14B semi-final in what turned out to be a pulsating match in Clashmore. We knew that we wouldn’t have it easy as Ballyduff Lower are a very strong side but this challenge did not phase our girls and they played superbly, working really hard as a team. At half time we were ahead by 1.5 to 3 points. Taking to the pitch in the second half the girls really dug deep and produced some great scores finishing out the game on a scoreline of 4.6 to 4 points. Congratulations to all the girls and management and we now look forward to getting back to the training pitch to prepare for the final.

Intermediate Hurling Championship
Ardmore played Ballyduff Upper in their first-round match in Cappoquin on Saturday evening. Playing against the wind the first half, Ardmore had just three points on the board halfway through the first half, against Ballyduff Upper 1-6. Seamus Keating had a decent goal chance denied but his converted frees and points by Liam Lynch and James Kennedy kept them in touch to leave the score at half time 1-12 to 0-7. Seamus Prendergast and Seamus Keating combined to score a half dozen points between them early in the second half but their chasing of the game wasn’t to be enough with Ballyduff Upper second goal finally putting it out of reach in added time, despite a gallant second half effort by our lads.
Next weekend we return to Cappoquin pitch take on Colligan in our second round match. Colligan got their championship off to a good start with their win against An Rinn at the weekend. The game is set for 5pm on Saturday. Come along and show your support.
Second Win in Junior C Hurling Championship
This group built on their win against Shamrocks last week with another fine win against Ballysaggart at the weekend on a scoreline of 2-17 to 0-13.This time the scoring sensation was none other than Joe McNamara who clocked up 1-5 on the scoreboard. Well done to Joe and all the squad. Their next match will be against Dungarvan next Sunday at 12 in Ardmore.
Juvenile Update
The U7s took to the field in style in Ballinameela last Wednesday evening and played three great games of hurling against St. Pats, St. Olivers and Clashmore. Well done to this group who are a bundle of enthusiasm!
The U10s played a hurling and football mixed blitz in Ardmore last Saturday morning with plenty game time for all that were available. It was hurling this week for the U12s who travelled to the home of hurling in Ballygunner. The team put in a fine performance and were just a few points shy for the win at the whistle.
The U15s had a hurling championship game against St. Marys last week in Kill. St. Marys saw three players red carded during the match in a game that will only be remembered for disciplinary standards that fell well below expectation on the part of St. Marys. The U15s play Dungarvan this week where they will look to record the first win of the championship.
CÚL CAMP takes place in Ardmore this week – hope all our juvenile players get the best of enjoyment from the annual fun fest!

Camogie U10
We hosted our own Under 10 blitz on a beautiful sunny morning last Saturday in Ardmore. We had three very competitive games against Butlerstown, Gailtir and Cappoquin and our girls played extremely well getting stuck in from the very start. They have progressed a lot since their first blitz and are really coming together as a team. Our Under 8’s had no blitz on the day due to low numbers from the visiting clubs, they did however take part in training for an hour and still got their very valuable goodie bags.
Camogie Under 16
Our Under 16 team lost out to Abbeyside last Tuesday in a very tough game of camogie. We will face Mount Sion next in their home grounds on Tuesday 9th of July at 6.30pm.

All County Hurling League Division 7 CHAMPIONS
Two first half goals from Seamus Keating set Ardmore up for a fine win against Ballydurn in the hurling league final last Monday evening in Colligan. Ardmore were the better team throughout and were thoroughly deserving of their win. Ardmore led by four points at the end of the first half, but Ballydurn were slow off the mark in the second half and the Ardmore lads used this opportunity to build on the lead and eventually ran out 10 point winners on a scoreline of 2-14 to 1-14. Joint captains, Pádraig Foley and Jack Keane lifted the cup, the first of many we hope this year! The group now turn attention to the Intermediate Hurling Championship when they take on Ballyduff Upper this Saturday evening at 6 o’clock in Cappoquin. We wish the group continued success in the championship.

Win in Opening Round of Junior C Hurling
Oisín O’Dwyer was a scoring sensation in the first Junior C game of the championship last Friday evening when the lads took on Shamrocks. Oisín scored 1-8 of the 2-12 scored by Ardmore, who edged ahead of Shamrocks in the last ten minutes to win by two points.

Already, there is great acknowledgement of the work and the benefits it will bring for those attending matches and training. Thanks to everyone who has supported this project.

The U9s played a football blitz in Dungarvan on Saturday morning with plenty game time for all that travelled. It was football this week also for the U11s who took part in a two game blitz on Monday evening in Cappoquin. These groups are improving with every game. The U12s game against Ferrybank was postponed as Ferrybank couldn’t play so this group enjoyed a break from game time this week. The U15s kick off their hurling championship this week and we wish them the best of luck in their first game against St. Mary’s.
Camogie U8 & U10
We will host our own Under 8 and 10 blitz this Saturday 6th of July with teams travelling from Cappoquin, Butlerstown and Gailltir and will no doubt be a lovely morning of camogie.
Camogie Under 14
Our Under 14s travelled to Ballyduff Lower last Friday evening and after a tough first half the home team were ahead 2.5 to no score at half time. However, after a motivational team talk from management, the girls took up the challenge and played out of their skin scoring 3.6 in the second half and finishing out the match with a draw, 3.6 a piece. Well done girls.

Signage Sponsorship
We are delighted to say there is significant support for Deuglán Naofa’s signage sponsorship campaign with Phase 1 now near completion. The proposal provides a great opportunity to local businesses and businesses with a connection to Ardmore to erect signage at the side of the pitch for which they will pay an annual sponsorship amount to the club, in line with the package they choose. There are three options available and we hope to fill the remaining spots as soon as possible. Anyone businesses interested should contact Henry Murphy on 086-8536512.

Our midfield pairing worked extremely hard and provided the forwards with quality passes resulting in some exceptional scores up front. When the final whistle blew, we proved convincing winners on a scoreline of 8.18 to 2.4.

Condolences
The club and community of Ardmore & Grange were deeply saddened this week to learn from across the Atlantic of the untimely passing of Matt Troy. Matt was the beloved son of Paulie who left these shores in the eighties to begin a new life in Boston. The Troy family connection to Deuglán Naofa goes back to the 1980’s, when the present field owned by the Troy family became the new home of Ardmore GAA Club. If we ever had the opportunity to be twinned with a City, it would be Boston as so many local family names took to Boston and made it, their, home-from-home. Our clubman Paulie was one of those, who moved to Boston some 39 years ago and linked up with his lifelong friend Mike McGrath where both worked and made Boston their adopted hometown. Paulie, his wife Desiree and family often frequented Ardmore in the summer months. Matt would have had fond memories of his time in Ardmore with all his cousins and extended family in Ardmore & Curragh. Matt grew up in Quincy and always wished to be a firefighter in Boston. As part of that journey, Matt first became a US Marine and once his military service was completed, he joined the Boston fire Department. Matt was just 30 years old when sadly in 2022, he was diagnosed with cancer. His positive attitude prevailed throughout his battle, even during his final weeks in the hospital. He was an avid sportsman with Ice Hockey his passion. In 2022 the Quincy Fire Department faced off against their counterparts from Boston in support of Matt's cancer fight, a game that was attended by family members and friends from Ardmore. On behalf of Deuglán Naofa GAA Club, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Paulie, his wife Desiree and to Matts sisters Sarah & Emily and his wife Rachel and the extended Troy family here and in the US at this sad time. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

All County Hurling League Division 7 - FINAL
Best of luck to our adult squad who have certainly picked up in 2024 where they left off in 2023 - they will play in what will hopefully be the first of a number of finals this season, when they take on Ballydurn in the league final in Bushy Park next Sunday. The match is fixed for a 12 noon start. Come along and support the lads!
Juvenile Update
It was a relatively quiet week on the juvenile front. Our U9s however did enjoy some game time when they travelled to Kirwan Park in Touraneena on Saturday to take on Naomh Brid in a hurling and football double header. The team gave it their all in increasingly wet conditions and can be proud of their efforts.
The Nursery Group (Well Kids) took advantage of a free main pitch on Sunday morning where, as usual, big numbers attended and the kids enjoyed some of their usual activities and a game of hurling and football to entertain the many Dad's in attendance for Father’s Day!
This week, the U11s are the first into action on Monday evening with a 2 game fixture in Abbeyside. The U13s are due to play St. Olivers in the hurling league on Wednesday while the U12s are due to play Clonea G in Ardmore on Friday evening in their hurling league.

Works Commenced on our Club and Community Car Park
Excavation works commenced last week around the clubhouse as part of the Club and Community Car Park project.
On completion, the carpark will provide approximately 60 designated car-parking spaces. The club will be financing a significant amount of this work and will be looking for the support of the community in so doing. Maximising sales of our Déise Draw tickets is critical to the club this year with €63 from each sale staying with the club. We look forward to your support on this fabulous project.
Signage Sponsorship
Deuglán Naofa have recently launched a signage sponsorship campaign for promotion with local businesses and businesses connected to Ardmore. The proposal will facilitate businesses to erect signage at the side of the pitch for which they will pay and annual sponsorship amount to the club, in line with the package they choose. There will be three options available. Anyone businesses interested should contact Henry Murphy on 086-8536512.

Our squad had a very competitive game against Abbeyside / Ballinacourty in the league last Sunday, losing out by the narrowest of margins.
Juvenile Update
Our U8s enjoyed a trip to Ballinameela on Saturday, where they played a three match hurling blitz. They played Naomh Brid, Cappoquin /Affane and Lismore in three lovely games of hurling.
The U10s headed to Fourmilewater for a football blitz where the group again showed great improvements.
The U12s played a league game against Clashmore last Friday evening performed well despite the absence of a number of players through injury.
Camogie Under 12
Our Under 12 team travelled to Bushy Park last Thursday to take on a strong Brickey Rangers side. It was a very tight game with both teams giving it their all and considering some of our girls have just moved up from Under 10 this year, they are really starting to gel together as a team. We were very unfortunate to only lose out by a single point at the final whistle.
Camogie Under 14
The Under 14’s took to the field against a very tough Lismore side last Thursday on a lovely sunny evening in Ardmore. It proved to be a thrilling game of camogie with both sides very evenly matched. It was a great team performance with our backs very strong in defence and our midfield duo driving us forward in attack allowing our forwards to pick off some great scores. The girls were ahead with only minutes to spare and were very unlucky to concede two goals in the dying minutes of the game. They will take on Ballyduff Lower away in their next game on the 27th of June.

Club and Community Car Park
Work commences around the clubhouse this week on the eagerly awaited upgraded car parking facilities. The works will rectify the significant drainage problems that exist on the site. In addition, the issue of parking in the broader since which is an annual source of frustration in the village over the Summer months, will be addressed. This project works in tandem with the Councils proposal to complete a pedestrian walkway from Deuglán Naofa club grounds into the centre of the village, and other proposed village enhancements announced recently as part of a €3.25 million package under the Rural Regeneration & Development Fund. The car parking upgrade will comprise three main elements;
The existing grassed area will be stripped, drainage installed, after which it will be covered with stone and finished with a double layer of surface dressing, and lining.
The existing driveway and car park will be levelled and scraped and then surfaced dressed and lined
A new remembrance garden will be done in partnership with Ardmore Tidy Towns, this will also be aided by Climate Action Programme.
On completion, the carpark will provide approximately 60 designated car-parking spaces. The club will be financing a significant amount of this work and will be looking for the support of the community in so doing. Juvenile Update
Our Under 15 hurlers played in the Féile qualifiers in Bohadoon last Monday evening. We put in a great performance against Kilrossanty and were unlucky not to take the win in what was a very close game. St. Pats proved to be stronger opponents in the second game and with many players missing, and no subs available, the back-to-back games tested our boys. To give them credit they never gave up and put over some lovely scores. The U15s now turn their attention to training for the hurling championship, with the first round scheduled for the third week of June.
Our U12s played Tramore in the football championship and where a slow start cost them the match but this is something they will learn from. The U12s switch to hurling this Friday evening when they play Clashmore /Kinsalebeing in Clashmore at 6.30pm. Our U10s will travel to Jamie Barron country next Saturday for a 4-team blitz. Our U11s hosted St.Marys and Lismore on bank holiday Monday in a football blitz and played some great football showing just great improvement with each game. Ardmore hosted two very good U9 teams in Cappoquin and An Ghaeltacht last Saturday. Under glorious sunshine, our group gave it their all in both games and will have learned a huge amount from these games.

Under 8 and 10
Our Under 8’s and 10’s travelled to Butlerstown on Monday to take part in their second blitz of the year where they took on Ferrybank, Newtown Ballydurn and Butlerstown. It was a really enjoyable day for the girls and they all played extremely well in all three games. Thank you to Butlerstown for being such great hosts.
Go Games Exhibition Match
Our Under 10’s were delighted to be selected to play in an exhibition match at half time in the Waterford V Limerick camogie game last Saturday. They lined out against Ballyduff Lower and done a superb job of displaying all the skills they’ve learned at training. They also got to meet their heroes and get their jerseys signed after the game. It was a fantastic experience for the girls and we would like to thank Waterford camogie for inviting us to take part on the day.

Juvenile Update
Our Under 8s, Under 9s and Under 10s were busy on the football blitz circuit last week with the Under 9s playing a two-match blitz in Ballydurn last Tuesday evening, putting on two fine performances in their matches against St. Marys East and Portlaw.
The Under 8s took a trip to Carriganore on Saturday morning where they played Rathgormack, Dungarvan and Clashmore displaying some of the great skills they are developing as the season progresses.
The Under 10s were next up with a home blitz on Sunday morning, where they gathered the spoils in their two games against Clashmore and St. Olivers, after some galant tackling, great passing and impressive scoring that Jimmy McGuiness would be proud of!
Switching to hurling, a very determined Under 11 side got the better of Clashmore at home on Wednesday evening and the Under 12s came very close to a win against De La Salle on Friday evening in the hurling league, and certainly couldn’t be faulted for effort.

Camogie Under 13
Our Under 13s played a challenge match last Friday against a very strong Youghal side and after an extremely tough game where our girls gave everything they had, we were delighted to finish out with a 3 point win at the final whistle. Tough challenges like this one will really stand to our girls as they progress in the league.
Camogie Under 14 and Under 16
Our Under 14 team took on the Brickey Rangers last Thursday in Ardmore and got off to a great start clocking up some lovely early scores. It was a fabulous team effort with some great passages of play throughout. We finished out the game convincing winners in the end. This team are really starting to come together and all their efforts at training are paying off. They will now face Lismore this Thursday in Ardmore at 6.30pm. Our Under 16s play their re-scheduled fixture against Cappoquin this Tuesday evening at 6.30pm.
Primary Games
Our girls had great success representing their schools this week with Mary Kate Keevers and Saoirse Kinsella taking part in the primary game match at half time in the Waterford v Limerick game last Sunday. A fantastic achievement girls. Congratulations also to Charlie, Annie, Ava, Molly and Maisie who were part of the Pobail Scoil first year team who beat Mitchelstown in the Cork County schools final. Well done girls another brilliant achievement.

All County Hurling League – Division 7
We had a comfortable 7 point victory over Clonea last Saturday evening in what was a tough away game overall, with the final scoreline 2-20 to 0-19. This win guarantees the squad a place in the league final against either St. Saviours or Ballydurn.
County Duty
Luke Hennessy was in action with the Waterford minor footballers again last Saturday when the squad travelled to the Faithful Fields in Offaly where they took on the home county team in the All-Ireland Minor Football Championship Preliminary Quarter Final. Luke put in a fine performance scoring 1-1 from his mid-field position, with Waterford having a convincing win of 2-10 to 0-8. This win put the side in the draw for the All-Ireland Tier 3 Quarter final.

Juvenile Update
Our Under 15 football team played Ballyduff Lower in their divisional semi-final last Tuesday evening. We had an understrength side due to multiple injuries. The team put in a great effort but were ultimately beaten by stronger opponents. We wish Ballyduff Lower the best in the final. The U15s now turn their attention to training for the hurling championship, with the first round scheduled for the third week of June.
Our U12s played Ferrybank away last Friday evening in their hurling league. A single point separated the sides at half-time, but Ferrybank got the better of the second half exchanges and were comfortable winners at the final whistle.

All County Hurling League – Division 7
We recorded another win last weekend in the All County Hurling League, taking the points with an impressive performance at home against St. Saviours. It was a tough game of hurling with very little between the sides, with Ardmore leading at half-time on a scoreline of 1-11 to 0-10. The second half was hard fought and low scoring before we eventually came away with a 5 point win, final scoreline being 1-17 to 0-15. It was a game that should bring us on a lot before our next day out which is an away fixture against Clonea next Saturday 18th of May at 7pm.
Juvenile Update
Our 15 football team play the Division 5 semi-final this Tuesday evening against Ballyduff Lower. We have number of players unavailable to us through injury which will make it a challenging fixture but no doubt our boys will work hard to get the win.
Our U13s played Gaultier in Ardmore on Wednesday evening last in the football league. Gaultier are top of the league, having won all their matches so our boys were up against it from the outset. They enjoyed some good spells of football throughout the game but Gaultier were comfortable winners of the game. This group had their second football game of the week last Sunday away to Clashmore where they played their best football to date this year with only three scores separating the sides at the final whistle. They now await details of the Plate Final which they will play against Ferrybank later this month. The U12s had a great game against Stradbally on Friday evening, with eighteen players togged out on the night and all getting game time. The U12s switch to hurling this Friday evening when we take on Ferrybank away.
The U11s played a competitive game against Modeligo last Monday evening. We had just enough players available to us to make a team and the boys fought hard throughout. After a well-earned weekend off to celebrate Holy Communion, our U9s are back in football blitz action next weekend in Bonmahon / Kill. Best of luck to all our juvenile players in this week’s games!

Our Under 12 team took part in their grading blitz last Sunday on a lovely sunny evening in Ardmore. The girls done extremely well in all their games and this will dictate which division they will take part in for the coming year. They played three matches against Ballyduff Lower, Dungarvan and Brickey Rangers.
Camogie Under 14
Our Under 14 team continued on their winning ways beating St. Annes in Kill last Tuesday evening. It was a really close contest with very tight marking throughout making it very difficult to get scores on the board. However our girls battled extremely hard without panicking knowing the scores would eventually come and their hard work paid off when they finished out winners at the final whistle. They will now turn their attention to their next game against the Brickeys at home on May 16th at 6.30pm.
