Ardmore Juvenile GAA Weekly Round-Up
U9 & U10 Report
Our U10s had a special outing last weekend as they played at half-time in the Western Junior A Hurling Final in Fraher Field against co-finalists Kilrossanty. It was a fantastic experience for the boys to showcase their skills in front of a big crowd. Sincere thanks to Katie Walsh and the Western Board for organising this wonderful opportunity.
The busy week continued with an U9 Football Blitz on Wednesday, where Ardmore hosted Affane, An Ghaeltacht (with two teams), and Lismore. All the games were closely contested, with great effort and determination shown throughout. It was very encouraging to see the boys’ continued development in football. The blitzes keep coming, with Ardmore set to host an U9 Hurling Blitz this week — a perfect chance for our return-to-schoolers to release any leftover energy from their first week back in class!
U12 Football Final
On Saturday morning our U12 footballers contested their final against Affane/Cappoquin in Bushy Park. In beautiful sunshine, the game got underway with an early goal from Jordan Walsh giving Ardmore the perfect start. From there, Affane/Cappoquin piled on the pressure, but goalkeeper Ross produced a superb display, denying at least four certain goal chances. Half-time score: Ardmore 1-01 Affane/Cappoquin 0-02.
The second half was a thrilling affair, with both teams trading fine scores. Midway through, Affane/Cappoquin struck for a goal and edged one point ahead. Ardmore responded brilliantly, with four excellent points putting us two clear as the final whistle approached. Determined defending saw us hold out for a famous win on a final score of Ardmore 1-05, Affane/Cappoquin 1-03.
This talented group have enjoyed a hugely positive year so far, and now turn their attention back to hurling, with a final to look forward to in the coming weeks. Training resumes Wednesday evening at 7pm.
Club News – Exciting New Project!
Over the coming months, work will begin on an exciting new addition to our club facilities — an Adventure Trail at our grounds. This project is being developed in conjunction with Ardmore GAA Club and the Ardmore Community Group, with the generous support of a local benefactor.
The Adventure Trail will be another fantastic amenity for both the club and community. As part of the works, the long jump will also be relocated. We look forward to keeping everyone updated as the project progresses, and we thank members and visitors for their patience during construction. A draft design is available, and a presentation will be shared on our WhatsApp information group.
Juvenile Club Bake Sale
Last Sunday saw a wonderful show of community spirit as both budding and experienced bakers came together for our Juvenile Club Bake Sale. A wide range of cakes, buns, and breads were enjoyed, and the event raised much-needed funds for the Juvenile Club. A huge thanks to everyone who baked, donated, or supported the event on the day.
County Representation
Congratulations to Sean Flavin who lined out with the Waterford U14s and helped the Déise secure the Jim Power Shield, with victories over Mid Tipp, North Tipp, and Clare on their way to the title.
Well done also to Sarah Murray, Lizzie Prendergast, and Maisie Roche, who proudly represented Waterford at the U15 Blitz in Cahir.
