U14 Football – County Final

On Saturday morning we travelled to Stradbally to take on Naomh Brid/Affane in the Division 4 County Final. It was a lovely morning for the game and the Stradbally pitch was in excellent condition.

We were without Harry Gleeson, who is currently recovering from a knee injury. Naomh Brid/Affane got off to a flying start, scoring a couple of goals in quick succession. Our boys battled hard throughout the first half and managed to get some scores on the board, but we went in at half-time well behind against a very strong opposition.

A number of changes were made during the second half and everyone got some valuable game time, but Naomh Brid/Affane ran out deserved winners in the end.

While the result was disappointing, our U14s can be extremely proud of their efforts this year. Reaching a football county final and a hurling semi-final is a fantastic achievement. The group have put in a huge amount of work since last February, and it has also been brilliant to see some players return to the club this year and make a real contribution to the team.

Well done to all the players and coaches on a fantastic year, and we wish Harry a speedy recovery.

Intermediate Football

Our intermediate footballers were beaten by Ballinameela on a scoreline of 0-15 to 0-13 in their final group game of the championship last Saturday in Fraher Field.

The team has now qualified for the Western Quarter-Final, where they will take on Affane. The game is scheduled for the weekend after next, with details to be confirmed.

U11 Football and Hurling

Our U11s played Clashmore last Wednesday in 20-minute games in both football and hurling. We had 15 players togged out, including three girls from our LGFA group.

There was a great effort from everyone throughout both games. Well done to all the boys and girls who took part.

This week we will welcome Brickey Rangers to Ardmore.

Camogie Notes

U8 and U10

Our U8 and U10 teams travelled to Dunhill on Saturday morning for a packed day of games at the annual Monster Blitz, with clubs from all over the county taking part.

Our U8s showed great grit and determination throughout the day, coming away with four wins from four tough games.

Our U10s also played four games and displayed all the skills and hard work they have developed over the past year.

This brings our blitz programme to an end for the year. Training will continue over the coming weeks.

A huge thank you to all our coaches for giving their time and commitment throughout the year, and to all our parents and players for travelling to games and blitzes throughout the season.

U13 Team 1

In unusually warm conditions, our U13 Team 1 girls put in another excellent performance against Ballyduff Upper, coming away with a comprehensive 5-05 to 0-01 victory.

The significant increase in work rate was a key difference between the teams, with the girls putting in a tremendous team performance.

The girls have one more league fixture against Clonea in two weeks’ time, after which we will know their position heading into the semi-finals.
