Men's Health Week Ireland 2026
Men's Health Week takes place across Ireland this week, beginning on Sunday and concluding on Father's Day. The annual initiative aims to raise awareness of the importance of physical, mental and emotional wellbeing among men and boys. It encourages men of all ages to take positive steps towards improving their health through exercise, healthy eating, social connection and regular health check-ups.
At St Declan's GAA Club, we recognise the vital role that sport, community involvement and friendship play in maintaining good health. We encourage all our members, supporters and families to take some time this week to focus on their wellbeing and to support the men in their lives in doing the same.
ICA Support for Ardmore GAA Fundraiser
Ardmore/Grange ICA were delighted to present a cheque for €200 to Seamus Prendergast in support of Ardmore GAA's upcoming major fundraiser.
Ardmore/Grange ICA is a local charitable women's organisation that offers women within ICA and the wider community opportunities to learn new skills, try different crafts and art activities, participate in exercise programmes, enjoy social outings and adventures, and most importantly, have fun in a welcoming environment. New members are always welcome. For further information, contact any ICA member or phone 086 077 0429.
Adult Hurling
Some welcomed silverware returned to the club on Saturday evening when Ardmore captured the 2026 Division 6 Hurling League title following an exciting final against Dunhill.
In a highly entertaining contest, Ardmore emerged victorious on a scoreline of 4-17 to 2-20. Congratulations to the players and management on a tremendous achievement and a reward for their hard work and commitment throughout the campaign.
U12 Football
We travelled to Ballyduff Lower on Tuesday evening last for our latest Under 12 Football League fixture. With our girls also in action elsewhere, we travelled with a panel of 12 players, all of whom played the full game.
The team performed extremely well, producing some excellent passages of play and registering a fine spread of scorers throughout the match. The victory means we have now won all our league games to date and remain top of the table. Well done to all involved.
U12 Hurling
Our Under 12 hurlers are back in action on Tuesday evening when they welcome Clan na Gael to Ardmore for a 6.30pm throw-in. All support would be greatly appreciated.
U10 Football
Our Under 10 footballers travelled to Cappoquin for an Inter-County Blitz where they faced Newcastle (Tipperary), Cappoquin and Youghal (Cork).
All three games were played in great spirit and showcased excellent skill and enthusiasm from our boys and girls. By the third game, the coaches had very little to do as the players had found their rhythm, demonstrating excellent passing, teamwork and marking throughout. Well done to everyone involved.
U7 Blitz
We had a very enjoyable Under 7 blitz hosted by An Gaeltacht in An Rinn on Monday evening.
It was fantastic to see St Declan's fielding two teams at this age group, with all the boys and girls performing exceptionally well in games against Clashmore and An Gaeltacht. We look forward to hosting St Pat's and Affane/Cappoquin/Tourin in Ardmore on Monday evening at 6.00pm.
Camogie Notes
Under 8
Our Under 8 camogie team travelled to Walsh Park last Sunday where they played at half-time during the Waterford versus Galway Senior Camogie Championship match.
It was a memorable day for our young players, who had the opportunity to showcase their skills in front of a large crowd, participate in a guard of honour for their camogie heroes and collect autographs after the game. Our Under 8 and Under 10 teams will travel to Kilmacthomas on Saturday for their second blitz of the season.
Under 12
Our Under 12 camogie team faced a strong Lismore side at home last Tuesday evening. Despite a determined and spirited performance, the girls were unfortunate to finish on the losing side. Their effort and commitment throughout the game could not be faulted and they can take plenty of positives from the performance.
Paul Foley Memorial Cup
A beautiful sunny day in College Corinthians, Douglas, provided the perfect setting for the inaugural Paul Foley Memorial Cup.
An entertaining contest saw Templeogue recover from a two-goal deficit at half-time to secure a 4-2 victory. Paul's son Jack presented the trophy to Templeogue captain Declan Foley, Paul's brother.
Sandra, Jack, Robyn and the Foley family would like to sincerely thank everyone who donated. Approximately €25,000 was raised for Solas and the Irish Cancer Society, two outstanding charities that provide invaluable support to so many people.
Sympathy
St Declan's Camogie Club extends its deepest sympathies to our coach Tom Keane and family on the sad passing of his father, Jerry Keane.
Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.
Déise Draw 2026
The new Déise Draw campaign is now underway and St Declan's GAA Club is once again asking for the support of our members, supporters and wider community.
The Déise Draw remains one of the most important fundraising initiatives for clubs throughout Waterford, with substantial prize funds on offer while directly supporting local club development.
Tickets cost €100 and the draw features five monthly draws with over €126,000 in prizes available to be won. We encourage everyone who can to support the draw and help us continue to develop our facilities, teams and coaching programmes here in Ardmore.
Club representatives will be contacting members in the coming weeks and tickets can also be purchased through the club. Your support is greatly appreciated and every ticket sold helps strengthen the future of St Declan's GAA Club.
