Minor Footballers County Divisional Champions!

In a wild and windy Kill GAA field last Sunday morning, our minors overcame the conditions to emerge as County Minor Champions against strong challengers St. Mollerans. Exactly four weeks ago in one of the round fixtures of this competition, Mollerans beat us convincingly and it is an absolute credit to players and managers alike to turn the tide in the manner they did last Sunday morning. Ardmore were playing against the best of Storm Ashley in the first half but despite her best force, they got off to a great start scoring 1-1 in the early stages. Fifteen minutes in Mollerans had matched this and if it wasn’t for some great goalkeeping from Mochara Fraher, the opposition would have had more than a 1-2 to 1-1 lead at half-time, with Ardmore missing a few chances leading into the break. Mollerans made a sprightly start to the second half scoring 3 points to go 4 up in the first ten minutes. But at this point of the game our boys found a new gear and started to get the better of the exchanges adding two goals and six points in the last twenty minutes, with two red cards for Mollerans adding to their woes. The final whistle saw a double score difference between the sides on a scoreline of Ardmore 3-7 to Mollerans 1-5 – a fantastic and deserving win for the boys and a great end to the season. Congratulations to all involved!

Juvenile Update

Our U7s to U9s welcomed their GAA friends from Fr. O’Neill’s for an end of season friendly game last Saturday morning in Ardmore. Once again, great to see the improvement over the season and the lads played with great spirit as they always do. This event brought the curtain down on the season for this group of over twenty players, who have enjoyed 26 training sessions and nearly as many blitzes this year. Thanks to Paul Casey, Patrick Conway, Damien Lenihan and Niall O’Brien for supporting and mentoring this group this year. The U10-U12s will have a similar ceremonial end to the season this Wednesday evening with a friendly game against Brickeys. After the recent successes in the hurling and football grading finals enjoyed by this group, they will be hoping to end the season on a high note.
